Mobile: CIOs Increase Enterprise Investments in Mobility
Enterprises are expected to increase mobility spending by 50 percent over the next 24 months, based on a survey conducted by CIO and sponsored by Oracle.
Some of the other findings from the survey of more than 400 CIOs are as follows:
Security
- 93 percent worry about data loss and security breaches resulting from BYOD policies
- Organizations say to beef up security they plan to focus on:
– Device Data Encryption
– Centralized updating and troubleshooting
– Remote wiping of data
– Lockdown features
Mobile Devices
- IT departments spend, on average, $157 per employee on mobile devices, a number expected to grow to $242 over the next two years
Mobile Apps
- 30 percent of IT development is spent on mobile apps
- Mobile apps offered by IT departments change frequently. More than one third update their app portfolio at least monthly and another third do it at least quarterly.
- 44 percent of the app portfolio is internally developed
- 84 percent said that sales and marketing play the biggest part in influencing how internal applications are developed
- 75 percent of those surveyed said cloud computing was very important for mobile development
