Commercial Open Source: Better Rankings for Cost, Quality, Security and Control

A third model exists, commercial open source, which provides a risk-appropriate blend of incentive-based vendor accountability and community-driven code transparency.”
A Ponemon/Zimbra survey on Open Source found that IT professionals rank open source software above proprietary software on cost, business continuity, quality and control. Specific rankings are as follows:
- Better business continuity (67 percent)
- Higher quality (60 percent)
- Greater control (57 percent)
