Cloud Computing: Half of IT Infrastructure Spending to be on the Cloud by 2019
Cloud Computing continues on a tear as IDC reports their estimates for 2015 cloud spending. Roughly one-third of all IT infrastructure spending will be on the cloud this year. Total cloud spending will reach $32 billion this year, an increase of 21 percent over last year. Over the next four years, cloud computing is expected to grow at a 14 percent rate annually. By 2019, IDC expects that half of IT spending will be on the cloud.
Kuba Stolarski, Research Manager at IDC, said that “the pace of adoption of cloud-based platforms will not abate for quite some time, resulting in cloud IT infrastructure expansion continuing to outpace the growth of the overall IT infrastructure market for the foreseeable future. As the market evolves into deploying 3rd Platform solutions and developing next-gen software, organizations of all types and sizes will discover that traditional approaches to IT management will increasingly fall short of the simplicity, flexibility, and extensibility requirements that form the core of cloud solutions.”
Cloud computing offers so many benefits for businesses (especially smaller businesses working with limited IT budgets) so it’s no wonder cloud spend has increased significantly these past few years.
