ECM: Interest Grows in Europe

By Dick Weisinger

AIIM, the Association for Information and Image Management and the trade association for Enterprise Content Management, is global, and interest outside the US is growing quickly.

AIIM typically has one big splashy show per year, but in between shows, AIIM tries to get the word out about ECM via much smaller roadshows that tour the country. AIIM also hosts roadshows in the UK, and interest there is growing.

In May, the UK-based AIIM roadshow hit five cities in the UK. This year the number of attendees hit 1500, up almost 35 percent over 2007. What’s piquing the interest? AIIM organizers think that Microsoft’s Sharepoint is behind a lot of the buzz. And collaboration is a hot topic now — how to share information enterprise-wide, and between colleagues, partners and customers.

Many of the new attendees came from the IT side of house and were interested in finding out more about information/knowledge management and the policy issues of control, compliance and archive management.
