Digital Transformation: Digital Transformation isn’t Coming Quickly Enough for Many Businesses

By Dick Weisinger

The question is how to get from here to there.  Businesses like Google and Amazon have set the bar high for what consumers expect from businesses in terms of digital interactions.  Many businesses realize that their current processes need to change, but many are struggling with how they can even begin to transform how they do business.

The following results were captured in a recent survey by Progress, a cloud and application development vendor.

  • 96 percent of organizations say that adoption of digital technologies is crucial to their survival
  • 62 percent of organizations feel that their organization is ‘in denial’ about seriously transforming to being digital
  • 55 percent said that if their organization doesn’t adopt more digital technology over the next year that they are likely to suffer financial consequences.
86 percent say that they have only two years to adopt digital changes.
  • 59 percent of organizations said that they felt that they were too late in adopting digital technologies
  • 70 percent point to their IT group as the culprit for slowing down change
