Business and Software 2018: Trends Include Serverless Computing, Agile, AR and Microservices

By Dick Weisinger

What changes can we expect to see with Software Development over the next 12 months?  Forrester has made predictions for 2018 that were recently reported by Christina Cardoza at SDTimes.

  • Devtest bots powered by machine learning and AI will speed software development
  • Agile will become even more widely used
  • APIs and Microservices will be central to DevOps
  • Serverless programming and low-code development will increasingly be used
  • Augmented Reality will be used more frequently
  • Voice recognition and natural language processing will enable the use of conversational computing

Forrester predicts that “for AD&D leaders, 2018 will be a year of parallel initiatives. First, they will continue on their journey toward modern software development practices and architectures — Agile, DevOps, microservices, and automation — that underpin continuous delivery. At the same time, they will take on new opportunities that new technologies and platforms — especially AI and low-code — will present.”
