AI Meets Analytics: Self-Serve is Nice, but Smart Analytics are Better

By Dick Weisinger

Expect analytics to get smarter over the coming years.  Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning are improving the capabilities of Analytics.  A report by Constellation Research found that the trend up until now has been to make Analytics easier to use by making it self-service.  Instead, analytics will grow beyond self-serve into something that Constellation is calling “smart analytics.”

A report by Frost found that combination of AI with Analytics will have a big impact in the following areas:

  • Healthcare and the drug discovery process to improve with advanced analytics
  • Image analytics will improve diagnosis
  • Advertising and media will be able to better measure sentiment

Kiran Kumar, Program Manager at Frost & Sullivan, said that “it’s clear that artificial intelligence, in particular, is disrupting the analytics space, creating new opportunities in healthcare, agriculture, retail, advertising, media, automotive, insurance, banking, finance, customer service, surveillance, gaming, education, and smart homes… Advanced analytics has the potential to transform productivity and the competitive ability of businesses, decision-making, and assist in redesigning business processes and models.”
