Business Intelligence (BI): DynaTrek Enables Federated Database Access
DynaTrek, a Tokyo-based company, has developed a technique to dramatically speed up data access across an environment of distributed databases. DynaTrek provides capabilities typically found in tools and systems used for performing Business Intelligence, Data Warehousing and ETL Data Transformation. The technology is being used by 350 Japanese organizations, particularly in the areas of government, finance, manufacturing and telecommunication. It has been used to build applications for business adminstration, accounting, production management, marketing, CRM and others. One of the newest DynaTrek customers in Japan is currently in the process of migrating their customer service and call center operations from SAP Business Objects to DynaTrek, allowing them a plan to reduce the total number of BI servers needed from 15 to just 2; hence, reduce power consumption and save on maintenance fees.
Key to the DynaTrek product is their patented technology that allows them to create very efficient SQL queries that favor the use of the SQL UNION operator over the much more computationally demanding SQL JOIN operator. The result is that queries are dramatically faster, and that means that queries and decision making can be performed in real time.
Two main advantages of the DynaTrek technology are that:
- Databases are accessed in real-time and in-place. It’s not necessary to off-load and transform data prior to processing.
- The DynaTrek system can be very easily configured and quickly changed based on user requirements.
Last year DynaTrek introduced DynaTrek version 4 with a very visually appealing interface that is much more intuitive and easy to use. Next month version 4.1 of the product will be released with enhanced enterprise capabilities.
To date, almost all DynaTrek sales have been in Japan, but since the Dynatrek product is based on Unicode and can support any language, they are looking to begin selling their product outside of Japan, particularly the US. DynaTrek is a Formtek partner.
