Business Process Management (BPM): Enabling Responsiveness for the “Moment of Truth” Customer Interactions
Globally Business Process Management (BPM) software is expected to reach $2.7 billion this year, an increase of 4.4 percent over last year, according to Gartner.
Four trends that Gartner sees in the BPM market are:
- Business Transformation. BPM can be used to improve existing processes but it can also be applied strategically at a higher big-picture level, allowing business to reinvent themselves. It sounds like a shift back to the idea of re-engineering that was popular in the mid-90’s.
- Support for Internet of Things. Processes will increasingly include non-human elements in the workflow. These may include things like sensors, robots and smart machines, and even things like smart meters, security cameras, mobile and monitoring devices.
- Manage Long-lived Processes. BPM can manage both short-lived transactional processes and long-lived business processes. Gartner sees BPM increasingly focusing on managing longer-term processes.
- Integration with Mobile, Social, Cloud and Analytics.
Rob Dunie, research director, Gartner, said that BPM “supports business responsiveness, often at the ‘moment of truth’ in a customer interaction.”

For me working with a BMP software definitely made a difference. I think that way more people should know about it. Can you make a bigger blog about this subject?

Interesting subject! I’ve been working with Cloud TV IPTV myself and I’ve been reading into the BPM market. Definitely will look up more information regarding this subject.
