Digital Enterprise: Lack of Resources Holding Businesses Back from Going Digital

By Dick Weisinger

Transforming businesses into digital enterprises is challenging, suggests a report from BMC on Digital Enterprise Management.

Businesses are struggling with the problem of moving their companies from here to there.  They do clearly see advantages with to moving to digital systems.  Businesses cite the expected benefits of digital to include:

  • 89 percent – Increased employee productivity
  • 77 percent – Increased customer satisfaction
  • 68 percent – Increased profitability

But while 63 percent of businesses say that they are actively trying to build up digital services and mobile technologies, it is difficult.  Only 5 percent of organizations feel like the digital infrastructure that they’ve built out to date has been sufficient.

The main roadblock that businesses cite as holding them back towards more effectively adopting digital technologies is money and resources.

Mary Johnston Turner, research vice president of Enterprise Systems Management Software at IDC, said that “effective management, delivery and support of today’s unpredictable, ever-changing digital business solutions is critical for success and innovation, but it strains traditional data center management strategies and tools to the breaking point.”
