Enterprise Mobility: Gartner Cites Top Concerns of Security, Integration, and Rapid Change

By Dick Weisinger

Gartner recently reported at their Symposium that among IT decision makers the top concerns with enterprise mobility are:

  • Security – More than two-thirds say that security, hacking, and malware is number one
  • Integration – 46 percent say that they’re concerned with integrating their enterprise data and applications
  • Rapid Change –  Slightly less than half worry that  their businesses won’t be able to keep up with the rapid changes in technology

Natalie Lambert, senior director of product marketing at Citrix, commented on the Gartner numbers to CMSWire, saying that “organizations that achieve full mobility will unlock huge potential in their workforce and drive business growth; organizations that adopt a philosophy to protect and control application and data access across locations, networks and devices can address privacy, compliance, and risk management priorities without compromising end-user productivity; and organizations that realize true business agility will be ready to adapt to changes, like mergers and acquisition, globalization, and facilities and infrastructure changes in real time.”

But despite the potential benefits that mobility can bring, IT decision maker concerns may be causing decision makers to hold back spending.  Only 18 percent of budget spending is going towards mobility.
