Enterprise Search: Make Your Employees More Productive

By Dick Weisinger

What if you could do an across-the-board productivity boost for all knowledge-worker type employees? A report from Aberdeen Research suggests one path for doing just that. Improve their ability to search and find the information that they’re looking for. The Aberdeen Research report finds that more than 6 hours from an employee’s standard forty hour work week are spent non-productively. By deploying technologies like enterprise search, Aberdeen found that “best-in-class” companies were able to improve productivity by 63%. They also measured a 27% reduction in time-to-decision and 21% increase in gross margin.

Recommendations for how to improve enterprise productivity included:

  • Tight integration of enterprise applications with user desktop applications
  • Web-enable applications

Enterprise search solutions have indeed redefined search for organizations and has made it a lot easier to derive important information from unstructured data. New age enterprise search tools have the potential to increase employee productivity. 3RDi Enterprise (https://www.3rdisearch.com/) is an example.
