Cloud Computing: Businesses Continue to Move Data to the Cloud

By Dick Weisinger

Nearly one third (31 percent) of companies have more than 40 percent of their workloads running on internal clouds, according to the respondents of a recent ODCA (Open Data Center Alliance) survey.  That’s expected to grow to 70 percent by 2016.

52 percent of respondents are including cloud requirements in their application development plans, and 27 percent of respondents are optimizing their cloud applications.

The leading usage model targets being used by respondents to the ODCA survey are as follows:

  • Infrastructure as a Service (86 percent)
  • Service Orchestration (49 percent)
  • Virtual Machine Interoperability (48 percent)
  • Service Catalog (39 percent)
  • Scale Out Storage (39 percent)
