Intelligent Automation (IA): AI Drives IA, Bringing Efficiencies and Eliminating Repetitive Tasks

Intelligent Automation (IA) is the use of computers and robotics to replace repetitive tasks.  Technology like Artificial Intelligence (AI) are driving rapid advancements in automation.  IA is expected to bring with it dramatic changes in the near future. 

For example:

Businesses say that they see the wave of automation coming and many are trying to prepare.  A report by CIO Insights said that 54 percent of companies not currently using IA plan to start in the near future.

Todd Lohr, a principal within KPMG’s Technology Enabled Transformation practice, said that “we’ve been talking about AI forever and nothing has happened, but people don’t recognize that the last 20 years was the very slow part of [the] exponential growth curve. Organizations need to think about how they handle this today because it’s going to happen faster than they think. They have to think about what it means to their organizations and the societies in which they work.”
