Enterprise Software: Digital Transformation Promoting Growth of Enterprise Software
Technology businesses are getting big. Apple recently surpassed $1 trillion in value and Amazon and Google/Alphabet are expected to cross that barrier soon as well.
Ann Winblad, founding partner of Hummer Winblad Venture Partners, told CNBC that “the spend this year for enterprises, meaning large companies, is about $400 billion. And that is growing next year close to 9 percent again after growing almost 10 percent this year. And that may be accelerating. Because we have all of the world in the midst of ‘Digital Transformation’. So there’s a huge spend on software. And that’s why we see so many of these companies transitioning — Cisco is a good example.”
Big businesses are now especially focused on software. Winblad commented that “there are more software developers at Goldman Sachs, than there are bankers… Companies want to give the best tools to their programmers, to make sure their projects are done with quality and done faster, and you want to make sure they’re secure.”
