Information Management: Innovative Information Access Companies

By Dick Weisinger

IDC announced the names of the top 9 most innovative information access companies to watch.
The criteria for selecting these companies was:

– Must be under $100 million in annual revenues
– Must sell products with Web 2.0 style user interfaces that require little or no training
– Must be able to uniformly access information of all data types, across applications and repositories
– Must have capabilities to support intelligent process automation

The list is slightly biased since companies have been self-nominated.

The companies selected were:
* Carefx     (Integration of data sources and applications for healthcare)
* Connotate  (On-demand business intelligence)
* Exalead    (Enterprise and web-based search)
* Fatwire    (Web content management)
* Jaspersoft (Open-Source business analytics and business intelligence)
* MarkLogic  (XML infrastructure for integrating data solutions)
* NetBase    (Content Intelligence / Linguistic analysis of text)
* Recommind  (eDiscovery and Risk Management/Compliance)
* Vivisimo   (Enterprise Search)

These are interesting companies operating in niche areas of information management.
