Oracle has been on a roll with 50 company acquisitions over the last 45 months and has become a master in being able to squeeze the best technology out of their purchases. While Oracle Fusion may be slow in coming, Oracle, more than any other company, is learning how to make diverse technology components fuse together.

At Oracle Open World last month Oracle presented a consolidated BPM strategy. They’ve integrated capabilities from BEA’s AquaLogic BPM by leveraging their SOA Suite and BPEL Process Manager.

But while Oracle is making product integrations look easy, other companies are struggling in pulling together their acquisitions. Compare that to what IBM has been doing to meld together BPM technologies into their IBM BPM Suite. That product tries to combine WebSphere and FileNet, but falls flat. Interoperability between the two technologies is strained at best.
