Digital Transformation is a top goal for many businesses, but a major problem in achieving that goal is the difficulty of data integration.

Why is data integration between different projects and systems hard? In the 2019 Connectivity Benchmark report MuleSoft breaks this question down and identifies three specific pain points.

  • 69 percent of businesses say that existing/legacy systems occupy the majority of their time, leaving no time to investigate more innovative technologies.
  • 77 percent say that budgets are extremely tight, so taking on new projects is difficult.
  • 91 percent worry that the negative impact from not being able to complete their digital initiatives on time.

Ross Mason, vice president at MuleSoft, said that “when it comes to digital transformation, it is no longer a case of ‘if’ but ‘when’ for organizations. However, there is growing impatience at a business level to make the goals of digital transformation a reality right now, as those that fall behind will start to lose revenue and market share fast.”
