ECM: Legal Workhorse for Compliance

By Dick Weisinger

Many smaller companies are turning to legal specialists to help them achieve legal compliance. Core to compliance to for companies is to be able to store, search and efficiently retrieve office documents, spreadsheets, video, and technical drawings. There is an industry growing up around providing outsourced compliance services. Law firms and legal processing outsourcers (LPO) are stepping in to help out. And the heart of those services provided usually centers around ECM/data management.

In the UK, an example is the legal company CPA in partnership with data management specialist Logicalis. Tony Brennand, Business Change Solutions Manager of CPA, says “It’s about getting the right documents to the right people more quickly by making our processes more real-time and de-risking records management by having that digital backup. There’s also the aspect of the new systems enabling us to increase levels of customer confidence and service.”

It seems only natural that outsourcing of components of compliance, especially those related to IT infrastructure, will become more commonplace.
