Enterprise Software: Asia Pacific Poised for Healthy Growth
Despite the economic slump has managed to pull down markets globally, companies still see the need to invest in enterprise software to remain competitive. Forecast for growth in Asia-Pacific remains strong.
Springboard Research is estimating 13.1 percent compounded annual growth over each of the next years until 2012 for the Asia Pacific region including Japan. In dollar terms that equates from a market size of $18.2 billion in 2008 to a market size of $30 billion in 2012.
Growth is expected to be fastest in China. The leading enterprise software country markets are China, Australia, India and South Korea. The strongest demand currently is coming from SaaS and cloud computing, virtualization, and collaboration software categories. The most popular solutions are supply chain management, business intelligence,
and enterprise content management (ECM).
One barrier in Asia though is a lack of training and skills, low vendor presence, and software piracy.
