Formtek Announces Engineering Data Management (EDM) Plugin for Alfresco ACA/ADW Content Application
The new Formtek plugin provides support for the Alfresco Development Framework (ADF)-based Alfresco Content Application (ACA) 2.2 and Alfresco Digital Workspace (ADW) 2.0
The Formtek Engineering Data Management (EDM) Module provides a set of server-based extensions to the Alfresco Content Services repository, Alfresco Share, and the ADF-based ACA and ADW applications that offer a secure solution for managing your vital engineering information. The Formtek EDM Module Plugin is the ADF-based component of the Formtek EDM Solution for Alfresco.
Version 1.0 of the Formtek EDM Module Plugin is compatible with Alfresco Content Application 2.2 and Alfresco Digital Workspace 2.0.
The EDM Plugin provides the following functionality for ACA/ADW:
- EDM Properties (to edit Engineering Drawing or Engineering Document type properties)
- Manage XRefs
- Set/Remove XRef Search Folder (for automatic XRef management)
- View Complete Drawing (base drawing + XRefs)
- Regenerate Complete Drawing
- Export as Zip File (base drawing + XRefs)
- Change Color (for CAD file previews and complete drawing previews)
Dick Weisinger, Chief Technologist at Formtek, said that “the EDM Module enables any user with sufficient privileges in an organization to be able to access and and view engineering data. The EDM Module plugin provides the same visualization and CAD file management capabilities that we’ve provided in the Alfresco Share application for some time, and we now make those same capabilities available within Alfresco’s new customizable ACA and ADW content applications. Existing Formtek EDM Module customers using Alfresco Share will now have an easy upgrade path to ACA/ADW in Alfresco 6.x and the newly released Alfresco 7.0.”
A Formtek EDM Module 4.0.x installation is a requirement for this release. For more information, please reference EDM Module for Alfresco, Release 4.0 or EDM Module for Alfresco, Patch Release 4.0.0.1.
