By Dick Weisinger

People’s lives have become saturated with their interaction with the Internet.  Mary Meeker’s recent annual report on the internet found that in the US that people only spent 4 percent more time on the internet in 2016, compared to 2015.  The growth in the total number of hours spent on the internet daily has been slowing the past few years.  In 2016, the average American spent 5.6 hours online.

Other stats reported by Meeker include:

  • 85 percent of online ad dollars are spent on Google and Facebook
  • 20 percent of Google mobile queries are made with voice, not text
  • Globally, there are 2.6 billion online gamers
  • The average gamer age in the US is 35
  • Amazon-branded products are becoming huge.  Amazon Basic batteries are now the biggest battery brand with a market share 10 percent bigger than Duracell
