Megatrends: SaaS’s $100 Billion Decade

Ten years ago, going into 2010, SaaS was an $8 billion market. Over the last decade, SaaS has seen spectacular growth, finishing 2019 with a better than $100-billion year, according to data by Synergy Research — that’s about 23 percent of the total $450 billion enterprise software market. Microsoft accounts for about one-fifth of total SaaS revenues.

John Dinsdale, Synergy Research Group chief analyst said that “buying SaaS versions of software has become ever more attractive to enterprises throughout the last decade, thanks to dramatic improvements in hosting capabilities, more flexible economics and increased comfort in moving to a cloud-based operational model.”
