SOA: IT Leaders Convinced of Benefits

By Dick Weisinger

A recent CIOInsight Emerging Technology Study report found high satisfaction with SOA among the IT executives surveyed.

The two main results of the survey were that SOA is widespread and that SOA is not a slamdunk.
Most companies had surveyed moved beyond SOA pilot projects into production implementations, and very few organizations had no plans to adopt it.

Here are some additional findings from the survey:

  • 97 percent of respondents thought that the use of SOA improves business processes
  • 47 percent said that SOA enables their organization to move away from legacy CRM and ERP applications
  • 66 percent agree that the use of SOA has improved the productivity of their Development team
  • 69 percent of companies with more than $1 billion in revenues are using SOA
