ECM: Effective use of Unstructured Data SuperCharges Enterprises
94% of Best-In-Class companies report that the integretion of unstructured data management into their business processes improves reponse to customer demands by more than 10%. The report, Data Management 2.0: Making Sense of Unstructured Data, was sponsored by Business Objects and comes from the Aberdeen Group Inc., a Harte Hanks company.
That statistic is interesting because it really hits home on ROI for enterprises when considering the benefits of an ECM system. It’s considerably more tangible than trying to estimate the ROI from a system used to help achieve compliance or assist with eDiscovery.
Some of the report’s findings include:
- Compared to the previous two years, 84% Best-In-Class companies reported improvement in time spent searching for knowledge objects
(employee productivity). - 80% of the Best-in-Class companies reported providing structure to unstructured data as a high or top priority.
- 54% of Best-in-Class organizations already have a well-defined data management strategy in place. This is nearly twice the rate of Industry Average organizations (30%) and Laggards (23%).
- Best-in-class companies have well defined data management, enterprise search and content management strategies in place.
