Technology: HyperAutomation a Top Technology Trend for 2022

By Dick Weisinger

Gartner released it’s list of top technology trends as we close out 2021. There are twelve trends on the list, but they all point in one direction: acceleration of digital business.

David Groombridge, research vice president at Gartner, said that “CIOs must find the IT force multipliers to enable growth and innovation, and create scalable, resilient technical foundations whose scalability will free cash for digital investments. These imperatives form the three themes of this year’s trends: engineering trust, sculpting change and accelerating growth.”

Hyperautomation is one trend that will be important because it is enables businesses to digitize and automate more of their processes. Robotic Process Automation (RPA), for example, is increasingly being used by businesses to improve productivity. Groombridge said that “the top-performing hyperautomation teams focus on three key priorities: improving the quality of work, speeding up business processes and enhancing the agility of decision-making. Business technologists supported an average of 4.2 automation initiatives in the past year.”

Ted Dinsmore, who as president of SphereGen Technologies, told CIO that “more CIOS are turning to robotic process automation to eliminate tedious tasks, freeing corporate workers to focus on higher value work. With the global labor shortages, particularly in technology, RPA will be one of the key tools for CIOs to turn to.”
