Enterprise Social Collaboration: Is anyone using it?
Enterprise users say that they’re using enterprise social collaboration software, but when asked specifically about which software tool they’re using, they mention Facebook and Twitter rather than software tools that were designed specifically for social enterprise users. That result must be disheartening to the sponsor of the survey, Avanade, an enterprise software vendor and joint venture between Microsoft and Accenture.
74 percent said that they use Facebook; 51 percent use Twitter for work collaboration; and 45 percent are using LinkedIn.
Highlights of the Avanade report are that:
- Social Collaboration is being increasingly adopted and mentioned as being on the radar at companies
- Business decision makers have a ‘false sense of accomplishment’ when it comes to what they’ve done in the area of social collaboration
- Businesses are often polarized: those that see strong merit in using social tools and those that are skeptical that they’re anything other than time wasters
- An increasing number of businesses now say they plan to adopt enterprise social tools in the next 12 months
