Augmented Analytics: Turning CXOs into Citizen Data Scientists

User interfaces for Data analytics and Business Intelligence tools are being revamped. They’re becoming more conversational and easier to use. This new generation of business decision-making software is called augmented analytics and incorporates AI and natural language to create a more engaging experience for the user.

Gartner predicts that “as it matures, augmented analytics will become a key feature of modern analytics platforms. It will deliver analysis to everyone in an organization in less time, with less of a requirement for skilled users, and with less interpretative bias than current manual approaches. As the technology develops, there will be more citizen data scientists.” The tools are democratizing the tools used to make informed data-based decisions.

MarketsAndMarkets forecasts that globally, the augmented analytics market size will grow from $4.8 billion in 2018 to $18.4 billion by 2023.

Rita Sallam, analyst and fellow at Gartner, said that “we’re seeing a shift in the user experience from one that was dashboard-centric to one that is far more dynamic and revolves around dynamically generated data stories. So, instead of going to a dashboard every day or every hour to see what’s going on in the aspect of the business I care about, I might get these dynamic data stories that get to the punchline.”
