ECM Consolidation — Not for Interwoven

By Dick Weisinger

The TamTam blog references an article by ECM365 (Content Management 365) describing an interview they had recently with Kevin Hayden, Interwoven’s VP of Marketing.  The interview was made at a followup meeting of the annual European Interwoven user conference.

Hayden said that “for the record, our stated strategy is to remain independent and be the provider of solutions.  IBM, Oracle and EMC are really platform players and not there to supply deep domain solutions.”

At the end of the interview, Hayden concluded, “When EMC bought Documentum, they kept brand separate, but now we are seeing a lot of Documentum representatives leaving and a lot of people who used to sell hardware are now selling software.  Over time, the Documentum business has gone down dramatically because that’s not important to them.  Open Text had something like 4 WCM systems and 3 DM system and there is a lot of confusion in the market as to how it will all go forward.”
