Enterprise AI: Analytics, AI and Automation Converging to Build the Intelligent Business

By Dick Weisinger

As enterprises move past COVID-19, a major trend is that many are trying to align their IT budgets with strategies that have a huge emphasis on AI. Businesses have increased budgets for AI technologies by as much as 55 percent in the last year, according to the Appen State of AI report.

Mark Brayan, CEO at Appen, said that “clearly companies are going all-in on AI.”

Ramprakash Ramamoorthy, director of AI research at Zoho, said that “companies are able to see the various ways AI can assist in business processes and the demand for these tools is high. AI will be more commonly embedded into business tools, electronics, cars, and across all areas of business. Businesses will see AI embedded into workflows, analytics, communication tools, and others. We’ll see AI augmenting tasks to run more efficiently and effectively.”

Ritu Jyoti, vice president for AI research at IDC, said that “AI is becoming ubiquitous across all the functional areas of a business. Advancements in Machine Learning, Conversational AI, and Computer Vision AI are at the forefront of AI software innovations, architecting converged business and IT process optimizations, predictions and recommendations, and enabling transformative customer and employee experiences.”

Sanjeev Vohra, global lead at Accenture, said that “The C-suite, or the top level of companies that are getting interested in this technology, are seeing how they can actually use AI for business. It’s moved out of the experimentation zone … to something scaled. Businesses are using AI to scale business value and enterprise value. Analytics, AI, and automation practices all [have to come] together, along with data management … to create the solutions required for a company to become intelligent.”
