Mobile Computing: Mobile Adoption High Among ‘Creatives’

By Dick Weisinger

Creative professionals and designers are adopting mobile at a rapid pace, based on a study by Adobe.

David Wadhwani, senior Digital Media vice president and general manager at Adobe, said that “creatives are going mobile, and this means a sea change for the creative process.  The study shows that creatives are very interested in using mobile for idea generation and suggests that we will see mobile use in the creation process significantly increase in the years ahead. This underscores that mobile devices can be an important part of the creative process when integrated with existing desktop workflows.”

Three-quarters of creatives say that mobile technology has been transformational in how they approach work.  70 percent of creatives say that their work is specifically focused on mobile delivery.  But creatives are also feeling pressured to be able to continually do more and do it faster.  They’re also feeling pressure to improve their skill sets — 80 percent say that they need to learn new tools and techniques.  The work of creatives is also increasingly spanning multiple mediums and disciplines.
