Social and Collaboration Tools: Now a Must-Have Feature for Enterprise Software

By Dick Weisinger

COVID-19 has been a catalyst for the growth and adoption of collaboration software by businesses. Gartner is predicting that the growth trend will continue even after the worries about COVID-19 die down.

Nicole Alvino, co-founder and chief strategy officer at SocialChorus, said that “COVID-19 has undoubtedly accelerated processes of how teams now collaborate and many businesses have been reviewing and upgrading their communications systems and processes.”

Craig Roth, research vice president at Gartner, said that “many of the existing use cases propelling the social and collaboration market, such as coordinating a distributed workforce and providing a ‘virtual water cooler,’ got a sudden jolt from the pandemic. Social and collaboration tools went from a ‘nice to have’ to a ‘must have’ within a matter of weeks.” As a result, enterprise collaboration tools are expected to grow rapidly over the next couple of years.
